SMARTe MCP
Overview
Bring SMARTe's B2B intelligence into the AI assistant you already use. Ask in natural language - a company's firmographics, a person's verified profile, a business email or direct dial, an account's tech stack or funding history, or the right contacts inside a target account and your assistant pulls the answer from SMARTe's database in real time.
SMARTe MCP is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI assistants to live data sources. Connect once with your SMARTe login; it works across Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and any MCP-compatible host.
- Data coverage: 290M verified contacts across NAM, EMEA, APAC
- Security: OAuth 2.0 sign-in, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR-aligned, CCPA-compliant
- Pricing: Consumption-based; draws from your existing SMARTe credit balance. No additional MCP fees
- MCP URL: https://mcp.smarte.pro/mcp

Tips for Best Results
- Start broad, then narrow. Get a count of contacts matching filters before pulling the full list. It saves credits and helps you tune the query as per your requirement.
- Add context about your goal. "I'm prepping for a discovery call with their CRO" produces sharper output than "tell me about Acme."
- Be specific. "Enterprise," "senior," and "mid-market" mean different things to different people - and to the AI.
Instead of "senior marketing leaders" → say "Director-and-above contacts in Marketing", or instead of "enterprise retail companies" → say "retail companies with 5,000+ employees"- Give the assistant an identifier it can resolve. For people: email or LinkedIn URL, or name + company. For company: company domain or company name or LinkedIn URL.
Understanding Credits
- Credits are drawn from your existing SMARTe balance. No separate MCP metering.
- Credits are consumed only on successful data return. Any errors in underlying API calls consume zero credits.
- Check your balance and usage in your SMARTe admin console.
- If you run out mid-conversation, your assistant will surface a message asking you to contact your SMARTe admin to top up.
Data and Privacy
- Transport: All traffic is served over HTTPS.
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0 via SMARTe login.
- Permissions: Tool access honors your SMARTe role and org-level entitlements.
- No permanent storage in AI hosts: MCP hosts do not persist SMARTe data beyond the active conversation context.
- Audit: All tool invocations are logged in the SMARTe platform for administrator review.
- Compliance: SOC 2 Type II, GDPR-aligned, CCPA-compliant.
Troubleshooting
Did your connection fail?
- Verify your SMARTe credentials and your account is active.
- Confirm the server URL: https://mcp.smarte.pro/mcp
- Clear cookies and reconnect.
Did MCP not return results?
- Broaden filters. Overly restrictive location, seniority, or accuracy filters are the most common cause.
- Verify the company identifier is correct (domain preferred over name).
Did you encounter authentication errors?
- Disconnect the connector.
- Clear browser cache and cookies.
- Confirm if the SMARTe account is active.
- Reconnect the SMARTe connector from your AI assistant's settings.
Did you get limited fields in response?
- Some data attributes may not be enabled for your account or require higher subscription tiers.
- Contact your SMARTe admin to verify your access.
Connection was working, now it isn't?
-
"Session expired" or credential errors mid-conversation
- This means your authentication token has lapsed.
- Your assistant will prompt you to reconnect.
- Complete the same sign-in flow you used at setup. Your conversation continues where it left off.
-
Asked to log in again unexpectedly
- This may happen if you cleared browser cookies (or used incognito mode). Due to this, your SMARTe sign-in session may have expired.
- You'll go through the full login once; after that, tool calls run again until the next expiry.
-
Sign-in loops or won't complete
- Disconnect the SMARTe connector in your assistant's settings
- Clear cookies for the SMARTe sign-in domain and reconnect from scratch.
-
Signed into the wrong SMARTe account
- Credit usage and permissions follow the logged-in account.
- Disconnect, then reconnect and sign in with the correct credentials.
